Eep, I'm A Year Older

Yesterday was my birthday and although we always convince ourselves that age is just a number, we all wish that we could be 16 all over again right? Never mind, age gracefully as they say. ;)

We did the usual like singing the birthday song, cutting the birthday cake and dinner celebration. It's like any other usual day, I still went to work, my kids still drive me up the wall sometimes although they did some sweet things for me too and hubby helped with more chores. :) I don't intend to post any birthday celebration pictures because they didn't turn out quite nice. But instead here is a birthday note from my sweet daughter and a funny video of Joseph.

The front of the birthday note.

If you have trouble understanding her note because of the spelling and grammar mistakes, let me decipher it for you. "One little mother, the one I know. She loves me and cares me 1 million. I like to the same 1 million. From daughter."
This is the funny video of Joseph acting like a zombie or monster. I don't know where he got the idea from. Maybe the music from the book sounded quite dramatic. LOL. So tell me whether he is acting like a zombie or monster or ???

Boys And Games

About a year ago, I did blogged about how my daughter was also caught in the technology web, playing Angry Birds and all that here. During that time, Joseph wasn't caught in the web yet. I mean he enjoyed playing too but usually with guidance. It was the best time for Elizabeth because Joseph would never fight for the smartphone or game console.

But things are different now. Both my kids will fight for their turn to play games on my hubby's Iphone. Most of the time, didi will win the fight. Poor jie jie won't be playing long if it's her turn. I think partly because she feels uncomfortable with her brother hot on her heels! Although the apps downloaded are mostly educational or kid-friendly, I still impose a "only-play-on-weekend" rules on them.

Joseph caught on fast and is such an expert now playing on his own by observing and learning through his big sister. Do you know that their all-time favourite game is Cupcake Maker? LOL. If only they can do a real cupcake for me instead of a virtual one. Hehe.

Here's two videos of Joseph having all the Iphone to himself while jie jie was having her afternoon siesta.

The Stuff You'll Do For Your Kids Part 2

Remember I've blogged about being a human slide for my kids here? Well, the stuff you'll do for your kids this time is become a human bull or horse. Hahaha.

My hubby becoming the human bull or horse to the delight of the kids.
It all started when the cheeky boy requested papa to turn and let him ride on his back. Hubby sometimes acts like a bull and sometimes like a horse, I'm also confused. The kids enjoyed it so much especially when papa does the bull or rodeo horse bucking and makes them fall off. Then they will ask for more, "Again! Again!" Good workout for papa! LOL.

Activity For Energetic Children

Got energetic toddler or preschooler? Do this.

Get your kids upside down in a fun game of "wheel barrel" where you lift up your child's feet and push him/her along as he/she walks on his hands. Good exercise for kids and ourselves too! Hehe. They liked it!

Have a nice weekend!

Aye aye, captain!

Look at what Jake and the Neverland Pirates did to my son and daughter.

Now everytime when he don that cap, he'll say, "Aye aye, captain!"

When I reprimand him or give him an instruction, he'll reply, "Aye aye, captain!" Cheeky fella! A little pirate in the making? I hope not!

Elizabeth singing one of the songs from Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
*Jake and the Neverland Pirates is a programme on Disney Junior on Astro Channel 613. (I'm not sponsored by Astro or Disney Junior :P)

Darn..now that song is in my head..oh boy!

Don't touch the ground because it's hot hot lava
You can't even go on your tip tip tippy toes..

My Nightingales

I took videos of my two lil' dahlings recently while they were both singing. They were already singing actually but I asked them to re-enact the scene again just for me to record it on video. Hence, the cue "1,2,3" from me at the beginning of the video. LOL. I know, I'm a crazy mother. I thought they looked so sweet singing that I have to blog about it so that I can view it next time when I'm old or they can view it next time when they are older.

The first video features Elizabeth singing in solfege and Joseph trying to sing in solfege too.

The second video features them singing with lyrics this time and don't miss the scene where Joseph is trying to do his unique 'peace sign' at the end of the video! LOL.

Memorable videos for me to treasure especially when they're not fighting or snatching toys from each other or hitting each other! LOL. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

My Lil' Prince

I've noticed I haven't blog about Joseph for quite a while. So I thought I might just do a post on his updates or milestones since I have goldfish memory. :P

My lil' dahling is already 2 years and 4 months old. How time flies! He is still my cheeky little boy and never fail to entertain me with his antics. I'll list them down to be cherished forever so that when I'm old and grey I'll look back at this list and smile.

1. He has grown up and is more understanding now. If you remember one of my old post about him here. He will scream and cry if I bathe with the door closed. He used to bang the door hysterically. But he is fine now with me bathing with the door closed. He would still knock sometimes and try to open the door but no crying fit already. Sometimes I would leave the door open and he does pay me a visit once in a while when he's not too engrossed with what he's doing. He'll open the sliding door and look at me for a while then close and leave. Finally, I can have some ME time while bathing. Yay!

2. When I switched on the lights in the morning to prepare myself for work, he'll call, "Papa! Geh (get) up! Coo coo coooo" (his version of a cockerel's crowing).

3. He has learnt to appreciate books more. Is more attentive when I'm reading a book to him. His sister's interest in books does have an influence on him. My efforts to read to him every night before bedtime are finally paying off!

4. He is still a vegetarian. LOL. Now he even  doesn't accept fish. The other day I tried feeding him a small piece of fish meat and he spit it out! The only way to get him to eat fish is to use my fingers to separate the fish meat into fish crumbs. If I want to get him to eat meat, then I'll have to mince the meat. *slaps forehead*

5. He is learning more words everyday but as usual we parents find it amusing when our toddler mispronounced words.

seven = yeyen
get up = geh up
eleven = e eh en
rubbish = bubbish
finish = ee ish
brush teeth = ah teet
see saw = shee shaw
close the door = clo a dor
drink water = ik ahter
hiccup = ciccup

6. When he is running along the corridor, I think the neighbours will know because he likes to make a racket. He'll say "aaaaaaaaaahhh" the whole time while running. Tsk tsk tsk.

7. He still enjoys making me chase after him when I want to put on clothes or diaper for him. Same ol' trick everyday!

8. He has grown accustomed to cheese which he was not fond of previously. Monkey see monkey do here because his sister loves to eat cheese.

9. He knows how to wear and take off his favourite croc shoes without using his hands. He still face difficulty sometimes though.

10. He is beginning to show a fond attachment to his pillow. Sibling's behaviour can really have an impact among siblings huh. His sister is like best friends with her 'bantal busuk'. Now Joseph is becoming best friends with his 'bantal busuk' too. He calls it 'bei bei' since his sister calls hers 'bao bei' (baby). He even wants to take it along whenever we go out or whenever he goes to the babysitter's.

11. He can sing more nursery rhyme songs now. His latest favourite is "Re, re, re your boat, eny down the sheam, me yi me yi me yi me yi, ife is but a deam." LOL. Can figure that out?

12. Most of the time he'll be the first to arrive when I summon them to brush teeth or go to bed. He'll shout, "Jie jie! Come!" Does he knows he is the youngest or not? :D

13. He used to say "mai mai" (that's don't want in hokkien, because the babysitter speaks hokkien to him). But now he has upgraded to NO for everything. "You want to drink yakult, Joseph?" "NO!" Even when he meant yes. These past few days, we tried teaching him the correct usage of No and Yes. Now it's "Joseph, do you want to eat pudding?" "NO!..Yes!" Oh well, he'll improve. LOL. Today morning when he woke up, I greeted him, "Joseph?" He answered, "Yes?" That's a good sign...

Dog Lover

Last Saturday, we went to visit a friend's newborn baby boy. They have a pet dog. So guess who was the most excited to see the dog? My lil' dahling, Joseph. He was touching it. Chasing after it. Trying to play with the dog. He followed the dog everywhere. We didn't know that he is such a dog lover. Or was it a dog bully? LOL. The poor dog seemed traumatised. But it was nice to see him getting up close and personal with the dog.

Sorry for the blurry picture. They were moving so quickly around.

Joseph's new found friend, the dog. LOL. He is not even interested in the little girl.

Poor dog is saying LET ME OUT! Joseph is saying PLEASE KISS ME!

Not a nice shot again but Joseph is begging for the dog to play with him.

After all the chasing, he fainted fell asleep in the car on the way home.

My lil' dahling princess is so dainty even in sleep. LOL.

Guess What Animals Are These?

I've been busy today and haven't read anyone's blog yet. So sorry. It's time to go home already but since the traffic jam is terrible, I decided to a short post for a while before I leave.

Here's a picture of two animals drawn by Elizabeth. Can you guess what animals are they? Sorry no prize for guessing ah. But it's just for fun only. Hehe.

Ok balik la. I'll check you guys answer after I come back from my Raya break ok? For those who are travelling, I wish you safe journey. Selamat Hari Raya to muslim friends and Happy Holidays to the rest!

About A Boy

Here is a video of my boy disrupting his sister's piano practise..

Things you might want to know about my boy..

1. He is a very manja boy and is even more so when he's unwell.

2. He doesn't allow me to close the bathroom door while I'm bathing otherwise he will bang the door hysterically. So I've no choice but to bathe with the door open. for the whole world to see.

3. He likes to stand at the balcony and watch the vehicles go by. Every now and then shouting, "Car! Bus! Lor-ee!(Lorry)" At first everything is a car to him. Then lorry is also a bus to him. Thank goodness he got them right sort of now.

4. He likes to irritate his sister especially when they just woke up in the morning and still lazing on the bed. He'll crawl up to his sister and lie on top of her body.

5. He likes to play chasing. He'll try to run away from us everytime we try to wear his diapers, change his clothes, feed him and even to get him out of the car. Phew! What a task. Got me panting I tell you.

6. He likes to play with toy vehicles or anything on wheels and run them on any surface even using us as his 'highway'. He'll run them along our legs to our body and right up to our head!

7. He's a vegetarian. Not exactly 100% vegetarian but he prefers vegetables over meat. Not many children like to eat vegetables but my lil' dahling here can even eat celery! He hardly eat meat unless it's finely minced or it's fried chicken. He'll eat most of the fried chicken's skin. Thank goodness he accepts fish.

8. He likes fruits especially grapes and likes to drink Yakult or Vitagen.

9. He hates to get his hair cut and scared the hell out of the hairdresser with his high-pitched scream.

10. He can be quite stubborn and wants his way.

11. He's an active boy who likes to run run run especially when we're out. That's why we still need to confine him in his stroller.

12. This cheeky little boy made my jaw dropped the other day. I went to pick my children up as usual at the babysitter's and she was telling me updates about Joseph. She was telling me that he was very cranky that day maybe because he was unwell. She was going on about what he did and suddenly he ran past us up and down the hall with his fingers stuffed into his ears and said "Aaaaa...aaaaa...aaaaa"(with a cheeky smile on his face). We were both stunned but it made us laugh in disbelief also. I don't know where he learnt that? Turning a deaf ear. As far as I know, I've not seen anybody done that in front of him before. What else is this cheeky boy going to do?

Ok quite a long list too. I'm now imagining what his reaction would be when he's older and reads this. :D Hope you enjoyed it. :)

My Girl

Here are two videos about my girl who loves to read.

Things you might want to know about my girl...

1. She loves to read. I'm proud of this and hope she continues her love for reading until she grows old. :D

2. She doesn't like to go to school. Just today morning, she chose to stay at home versus going to school because her dad is not working today. Public holiday for those working in Selangor. What a bummer for me..sigh.

3. She is a small eater. Very picky with her food. To the point that sometimes I feel so stressful and feel like forcing all the food down her throat. :p

4. She likes to ask many questions in a day. Mind boggling ones sometimes too. Everyday is why why why. I might consider to set a rule to 10 questions per day. Kidding.

5. Her love of her life (besides me) is her little bolster. Everyday she will smell and kiss it even before she goes to school. She will come home looking for it. Her bolster have to be placed on the sofa each day before she leaves for school. There was once she can't remember whether she put it on the sofa or not and made me turn back and open the door for her again just for her to check. Her bolster case has to be the same one also. No replacement whatsoever. That's why her bolster case is fading already. LOL.

6. She loves to drink Yakult or Vitagen. Which kid doesn't?

7. She loves to eat cheese. The cheddar cheese slices kind. This one is like staple food for her.

8. She hates doing her Chinese subject homework. I think the many strokes of the Chinese character demotivates her.

9. She likes the colour pink. I wonder whether most girls do? Or maybe she just takes after me..:P

10. She loves her brother and is quite protective over her brother but still fights with him just like most siblings do.

11. She doesn't allow us to cut her hair short only the fringe. I'm still plotting to cut her long locks one fine day. It's getting too long already. That one fine day will come. I'm still plotting.

12. She can be very stubborn and only wants her way. Are all children like that?

13. Still cries when I drop her off at school. Not everyday but at least once a week. The trick that Santa will cut her name out of his list for Christmas presents because she always cry doesn't seem to work. I need help.

14. She feels safe sleeping beside me. Last night she slept in her own room with her dad because she was coughing a lot. Halfway through the middle of the night, she came to lie beside me and fell fast asleep. Awww..

Wow! I didn't expect to come out quite a long list. It can go on but I think it's enough for now. Hope you enjoyed it.

Hello again!

Sorry for not updating my blog for sometime. A bit rusty here. So just thought I might kick it off by saying hello again.

Remember I did a post once about Joseph wearing shoes a few size bigger? See here. Now he has done it again. This time with MY shoes.

Kids really love to wear adult's shoes right? Maybe it's easier to wear and they can run off easily.

On a separate story, Elizabeth just had her mini concert for her Junior Music Course in Yamaha. Here are some videos if you are interested. Sorry that you have to tilt your head in the first video. I totally forgotten that I'm not suppose to record it that way. :P

Become a human slide!

Can you imagine being used as a slide? I don't know where did they get that idea from but suddenly my legs were arranged while I was slouching on the couch. Then the next thing I know two monkeys were sliding right from my abdomen and down to my toes. It could be slightly painful at times from the pressing and the sliding movement. But still I withstand it for their sake for they couldn't get enough of it! Sliding down numerous times and even get agitated when you bend your legs. Tsk tsk tsk! Kids these days are so demanding. :P Wonder what they will use me as the next time. A see-saw? A swing? Haha.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thieves In The Night

It's night time. What are those shadowy figures? Are there thieves in my house?

Am I seeing it correctly? Why are they small sized? Can you see clearer now?

Caught in the act! It's just my little dahlings playing with the torch light in the bedroom. Just give them each a torch light and they'll be so excited. Shining the torchlight everywhere and screaming in delight. Ah, it's so easy to make children happy, isn't it? If only it's always this easy to keep them occupied. LOL.

Syok Sendiri

This post is really syok sendiri punya. I mention from previous post that I went for a company's retreat right? So during the retreat, one of my colleague who is a pro in photography and also equipped with a canggih camera agreed to take pictures for my colleague and I by the sea. This opportunity is hard to come by so we thought why not? Since we missed the sunset the day before, we decided to take photos during sunrise. So we woke up at 6AM and by 6.30AM we were already posing by the sea. LOL. It was a fun experience. I didn't want to publish it but since my friends requested, here goes...

I really hope you will enjoy the photos. I welcome any comments lah, good and bad ok?

This picture was actually taken from a distance. But still can see my skin flaws. Haha.

My colleague, Liew Kok Ling and I.

The rocks were sharp and slippery but I still have to act poise.

Trying to be demure.

Sorry lah, more or less the same pose. I'm not good at posing. I tried to copy my colleague's posings.

Now with the funny looking tree.

Again on the rocks. Luckily I didn't stain my pants from sitting on those rocks.

Elbow so painful and body also after this shot. :P

Ouch! The rocks poke my arms.

Hey is that white hair? Darn!

Close up. Maybe I need to touch up the photos.

Silhoutte effect. Nice?

I look so tiny.

Flasher Alert!

Flasher Alert! There's a flasher on the prowl. Flashing his body for everyone to see. Refusing to wear pants even! Wearing shoes many sizes bigger than his feet. Be on the lookout for this person.

Back From The Dead

Scary or not this title? LOL. I was sick for the past few days that I really felt like dying. Just kidding. How could I possibly be willing to leave my family. I was down with diarrheoa, fever and vomitting. Anyway, I'm back and there are a few things that I'm grateful throughout the misery that has befallen unto me...

1. My husband was a darling. Helpful and all...

2. My daughter uttered "I Love You" many times to me. (But she also asked, "Mommy, why are you like that?" many times to me also everytime after I vomited or walked funny.)

3. My daughter was more complying while I was sick.

4. My son squealed in delight when he returned home and saw me lying on the sofa. He seemed to miss me so much and then he sat on my stomach to ride like a horse.

5. My son was also more complying and bade goodbye in the mornings without a fuss before he goes off to the babysitter.

So although I've suffered a fair share but did not lose weight from this harrowing experience :P , yes, I'm still thankful and grateful! Now, I've got to start clearing the mess around my house...

I've two 'Minnie Mouse' in my house..hehe.

The Funny Things They Do

Kids say the darndest things or in some cases where the kids can't talk much yet, do the darndest things. I'm sure most of you will agree with me right? Elizabeth, my eldest daughter is now 4 years and 3 months old. While Joseph my youngest son is 19 months old. I think every child at any stage of their development, has their own unique character. It can be a very common thing that every child does but still it's nice to blog about it. It would be fun to read back about it when we are old and grey. So here is a list of the funny things they do in no particular order...

1. My hubby wears spectacles at every waking moment. So the moment he sits up on the bed, Joseph will grab his spectacles and hand it over to his papa.

2. There will always be a reason or excuse everytime I question, reprimand or even give an advice to Elizabeth. Her answer would goes something like this, " No, I just see only, I never touch lah."

3. When you take off Joseph's clothes, he will run into the bathroom. It's a bit hard to get him to come out especially if I just want to change his clothes and not bathe him!

4. If you've read my previous post, I've mentioned that Joseph can say the word "Mummy" already. Recently, he started to say the word,"car". Sometimes it would be spot-on when he points to the cars on the road when we look out of the window or when he points to a picture of a car in his book. But sometimes, he will say "car" and point to other pictures in the book too. LOL.

5. Elizabeth can ask question on and on and sometimes at the wrong time. LOL. How do you answer to this? "Mommy, where is that motorcycle going to?" Usually I would say either to work, shopping, eat or buy things. But sometimes she continues asking at the busiest time like "go shopping and buy what?" I snapped at her by saying, "Eli, I don't know! I don't have a chance to speak to him and I don't even know him". Of course, I would regret after that because she would be silent and I will try to talk about other stuff to her.

6. Yesterday I asked Joseph to find his book and show to his papa the monkey. He showed the correct picture successfully and accompanied it with the "ooh ooh ahh ahh" sound. LOL. He also showed his papa the dog and said "oh oh oh" too.

7. I've discovered that he knows how to fill in the blank when I sing a familiar song or when he watches a familiar show. They are mostly sounds like "A-a-choo" or "Mooo".

8. Elizabeth loves to watch the show Little Einstein. She has watched the DVD over and over again. She knows all the conversations and what's going to happen next already. It's like reading a script. LOL.

9. Joseph is more expressive in getting what he wants. This little fellow will point and make sounds to get your attention. If it goes unheard, he will get louder until you take notice.

10. The two of them like to hold hands together when we go out. It's so sweet to see them holding hands and walking together.

11. Elizabeth can assist me in wearing and taking off her brother's shoes already. Great! Another thing that I can count her on to help me.

12. He dances funny along with music but still very adorable.

13. When Joseph spotted our picture on the wall, he pointed at the picture and said, "Mummy!" I'm still unsure whether he pointed correctly at my picture but it looks as if he's pointing correctly. LOL.

14. And yes, he still calls his papa, "Mummy". Even though his papa corrects him.

Awww...so sweet.

Wah walking in unison

So happy together

Swan and bunnies

Things I do to entice my daughter to eat her fruits.

An amateurish swan. Cut my skin I tell you.

Some bunnies made out of grapes and apple.
