Christmas 2010 Part 3

Now comes the day itself, Christmas day! No time to open all the pressies as we were in a hurry to make it to the St Francis Xavier Church on time. Still I managed to take a few photos because I can't resist my cuties in their new pyjamas. Elizabeth was excited to open her presents and as for Joseph he needed some help from his gor gors to open his presents.

Joseph trying to open (tear) his present.

It's a toy car from grand parents! Elizabeth is thinking of something?

Mini Lego set from grand parents for Elizabeth.

Already starting to play with their toys.
We couldn't linger much longer as I've mentioned earlier. It's Christmas morning and what more than to celebrate it at church and attend the Christmas mass. With young kids in tow, it won't be an easy one. They would either want attention, make a racket or want to sleep. Elizabeth was at least easier to handle now that she's bigger. But Joseph he started becoming fussy and I had to bribe him with biscuits then it was later toys to distract him. But in the end, it was sleep that he actually wanted. So I had to carry him nearly throughout the church service. After the service was over, most people started queueing up to have a glimpse of the nativity display in the church. Not wanting to be left out we did the same and my kiddos got to touch the little Baby Jesus. I was too caught up in the moment that I totally forgotten to take a picture of it.

Joseph becoming demanding and fussy already in church!

Joseph trying to 'drive' my dad's car

Still trying to 'drive' with sound effect this time.
We then went to Mid Valley for lunch as it is the nearest shopping mall to the church. Moreover, my family haven't seen the Christmas decoration there yet. We had lunch in Dragon-I restaurant because I wanted to let my parents try the Shanghai dumpling Xiao Long Bao. After the lunch, we went to collect our roasted turkey from Equatorial Hotel. Maybe I was too excited to see my turkey that I'd forgotten to take pictures of the Christmas deco at the hotel. The turkey was already in a foam box ready to be collected and we were told that the box will keep the turkey warm to last till our dinner. That was really great!

I was trying to put that reindeer horn on his head but he refused me. :P

Who is smarter? Both la..hehe.

Biscuit to 'tame' him.

Toy car as additional distraction!

This sweetie was waiting for her food.

Already losing it towards the end of our lunch.

Joseph was fascinated with the barrier stand, Elizabeth was fascinated with his sweet-smelling hair.

No, he did not lose his shoe. We just got tired of putting it back.

Both cousins were amused by this, some kind of interactive display.

Looks like our Christmas expedition has come to an end and it has started to take its toll on us. I can already feel the tiredness and laziness to even go out after this. So we continued with the opening of presents at home and the kids went for a swim again in the afternoon.

Opening presents again.

I gave Elizabeth that arm float.

For Joseph it's a swim suit.

Trying out their puzzle given by my sister to Elizabeth.

The 'kid magnet' still working his magic.

The 'kid magnet' asked for it, feeling ticklish now.

His attire came with a jacket but this lil' dahling refused to wear for long and pose for a picture.
This year is rather a special one because I had planned for a traditional Christmas dinner with my family. Every year I tried my luck suggesting to have either turkey or pudding or etc. but to no avail because my mom would shunned my ideas away. This year, I took matters in my own hands and did it without my mom's consultation anyway. In the end, I think she just relented. One of my close colleague knew that I had ordered a yule log cake, the honey baked ham and roasted turkey because he too ordered. He was surprised that I ordered a lot this year based on my own standards and made a funny comment. He said I am so oppressed all these years that I finally went all out this year. LOL.

Anyway, so what's for dinner you might ask. There was the roasted turkey with stuffings and it came with 3 types of gravy: cranberry, mushroom and corn. It also came with brussel sprouts, sweet potato and fruit cake. Then there was the honey baked ham and plum pudding. We did our own fruit salad (green apple, red apple, raisins plus salad cream), boiled broccoli and finally some baked goodies (potato, sweet potato, onion, carrots, parsley with butter). For drinks it was ribena mixed with 100 plus. ;)

When the tables were set and dinner was served, my hubby gave a lot of comments like is it good or not? Can we finish it? That's really a huge turkey. But as we tucked in, seems like he was the one who enjoyed it most helping himself with the turkey and ham. :P The roasted turkey came with a card from the hotel and there was a tagline there that says, "Big Birds Bring Joy". It really brought joy but we couldn't finish the damn huge turkey man. I gave away nearly half to my babysitter.

So that was my Christmas Day. I hope that you all had enjoyed it as much as I had enjoyed it too.

'Big Bird Bring Joy' 5kg turkey.

Fruit cake, salad, pudding and one of the gravy for the turkey.

The ham, baked goodies, boiled broccoli, brussel sprouts, sweet potato, stuffings and another type of gravy.

Ta da! The complete meal. Looks nothing much but we sure can't finish it!

Christmas 2010 Part 2

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

It was Christmas eve already and we began the day with a swim at the pool where I live. My nephews were of course thrilled except Elizabeth who wasn't allowed to swim because she just recovered from fever.

So happy to be in the pool despite the water being icy cold.

'Kid magnet' working his magic already.

My innocent girl couldn't swim.
After the swim, we went out for lunch at Tang Pin Kitchen. A new place just opened in Sri Petaling. This is our second time there but the first for my family. The first time, I was so ecstatic to find something like hakka mee in Sri Petaling finally and it tasted good too! It's actually Tang Pin's signature Mee Pok. But the second time around, I don't know why but it wasn't as tasty as the first time. Still my family doesn't seem to mind and so did my kids.

The signature Mee Pok dish. It's like hakka mee only with the added fish cake slices.

Happy to have out of his normal staple food - porridge and milk!

Giving her celebrity wave. :P

Arrmm..nom nom nom.
When the lunch was over, we headed to Bangsar Shopping Centre to collect my Honey Baked Ham from O Gourmet. The Christmas decoration there was not too bad. It gave quite a happy feeling to me. Christmas was in the air already. Elizabeth liked the big ball ornaments hanging from the ceiling especially. She said it was like bubbles. :)

Christmas deco at Bangsar Shopping Centre. Look at the 'bubbles' as exclaimed by Elizabeth, hanging from the ceiling.
Look at that littlest angry fellow who wants it his way. Those are real pine trees by the way. I like how they make the stalls in a shape of Christmas ornament. Pretty clever eh?

The Christmas tree outside Bangsar Shopping Centre. Aww..look at the cute snowman.

Boys will be boys. Just can't stop moving.

And end up like this.
Then I decided to make him stay put by feeding him porridge. My mom is feeding again for me. :P
Dinner was at the comfort of our home. My parents cooked a simple dinner for us. But our Christmas expedition wasn't over yet. My idea was to bring all of them to Sunway Pyramid so that we can marvel over the street lights I heard quite a few people raved about. The Christmas deco really did have that fantasy theme but it's still not the best deco. However, the street lights were really something. We seldom get to see something like this on our streets during Christmas do we? We didn't walk the whole of the street as I didn't want to tire my dad. There were so many street peddlers along the way and in the end I was lured by those flashy thingys and bought some for the kids. Luckily I don't see my nephews everyday, otherwise I'll be so broke every month. :P

Christmas deco at Sunway Pyramid

We must have a pic also in front of that globe.

This display was at the beginning of the street.

The Christmas street lights at Sunway Pyramid. Not my best shot and angle though.

I didn't know Rudolph had a sister. :P

She even has a magic wand!

Those flashy thingys that I couldn't resist.
That was the end of our Christmas eve. Will be back with more on Christmas day! Stay tuned.

Christmas 2010 - Part 1

My poor Joseph is sick. The doctor said it's a virus that causes him to vomit, have diarrhoea and fever. He is quite weak and have no mood to play. Only managed a few weak smiles and only wants to be carried all the time. The doctor said when this happens it is best to keep him hydrated with water or salt water even 100 plus with water added (so that it's not too sweet). The doctor also gave medicine for stomach pain/wind. Poor boy is just so moody, I really hope he gets well soon.

He looks so weak.

Very whiny when sick.
Anyway, as promised earlier, I will start my story on my Christmas celebration. My parents, sister and nephews were supposed to come up to KL on 23rd December. So in preparation for their arrival, I got a Yule Log cake from Coffee Bean. It's a Christmas cum birthday cake because my nephew's birthday falls on 22nd December. We planned to celebrate his birthday a day later.

This is the Yule Log Cake from Coffee Bean.

My humble Christmas tree. Sorry I forgot to take another pic of the tree with additional presents after my family arrived.
The day arrived and I was so excited awaiting their arrival. Elizabeth was also so excited. Can't wait to see her gor gors. As for Joseph, he's still too small to know what's going on. LOL. My mom told me that my nephews were also excited. One kept asking numerous times when are they going up to KL and the other one woke up so early on the day itself! Sounds like me when I was young before going on a trip. Hehe.

Finally they arrived and after settling down, we were off to our first destination...1 Utama! We were there for a few good hours admiring the Christmas deco, letting the kids have fun and did some shopping too. We went home to have our dinner and to celebrate Benjamin's birthday (my nephew) too. I can see that he was thrilled and also happy to get a birthday present from hubby and me. Anyway, the cake was delicious and definitely worth my money. After dinner, we went to Pavilion. There's no stopping us eh? But we missed the fake snow falling, drat! So we can only admire the Christmas deco and took some photos.

The Christmas deco at New Wing 1 Utama. I don't like the pavement. It was so rocky. Makes it hard to push the stroller.

The little one admiring the deco with my nephew Brandon being his 'kuli'

Elizabeth and her beloved gor gors.

Me and my beloved lil' dahling
Christmas deco at Old Wing 1 Utama. The deco at the New Wing is more beautiful but at least the pavement here is smooth.

The little one decided to push the stroller at tortoise speed. You can see the look for boredom and frustration on my sister's face.

They had stalls to keep children busy like this Play-Doh stall.
Elizabeth and her Play-Doh ice-cream.

She really can't get enough of merry-go-rounds and this time joined by her gor gors.
My dad bought for them blueberry candy cane and look what it did to their tongue. LOL.

I forced them to pose with their candy canes. :P

Oh it was so nice to take a break from feeding him once in a while. He really likes to bully me spitting out his porridge. At least with my mom, he is more civilised.

Getting rowdy already after the feed!

My parents and half of their grand children. :P

One for the family minus my hubby who was at work. It was hard to get everyone to look at the camera. Stranger's fault! But anyway, thanks stranger.

Finally Joseph is looking but the picture is kinda blurry. Oh well, whatever.
And of course must have a pic with my two lil' dahlings.

The happy birthday boy, Benjamin and his cake.

A complete family pic now.

I don't know what is Joseph so excited about.

Christmas deco in Pavilion.

It was hard to take a family pic with a 'worm' squirming to get down and run away.

Mom, sister and nephews.

Another view from top at Pavilion

Looks magnificent isn't it? That dude just had to spoil my picture.

Another view. Look at the crowd.

Christmas deco outside of Pavilion

Remember this? The same deco they had last year. This time it was placed at another location. I'm not that bird-brained, Pavilion. :P
I think that's a whole lot of picture for today and I shall continue with Day 2 tomorrow!
