This CNY and Potty Training Updates

Many people asked me how was my CNY after I returned to work. I just told them it was ok. But in reality, it was actually horrible. But how can I say that because that would only encourage them further to ask me to elaborate. Obviously, I won't mention it also here but yeah there you go. It was a horrible CNY for me. I just wish I could turn back the hands of time but what is done cannot be undone.

I'm not sure what this post is going to be about. But maybe I should move on to other brighter things or just share some pictures.

On another good note, Joseph has been diaper less throughout the night already! It could be between the mid of January to the beginning of February. A major feat for him and we're very proud of him considering how reluctant he was with the idea at the beginning of potty training. And how he likes to poo once we slip on the diapers for the night. He was already without the diaper during daytime and nap time for quite some time already. Then we realised that on some nights he's diaper was completely dry. That's when we decided to try taking him off the diaper at night and see how it goes. So far there were only two or three series of unwanted occurrences. It's been all good. Cross my fingers. Well, potty training is all about hits and misses. All we need is patience and no pressure. Joseph is 3 years and 7 months. 

Hari Raya Deco in Mid Valley Megamall and Suria KLCC

Hari Raya is just around the corner and like all festive seasons it gives all the malls especially in the Klang Valley a reason to deck their malls. It is a way to drive more traffic to the malls and give a festive feeling in the air. It will get the shoppers more excited especially if you're the one celebrating that particular festive celebration.

Since I frequent Mid Valley Megamall and Suria KLCC, I did not want to miss out on their decorations. I was pretty disappointed with what Mid Valley has to offer this year. I get it that they want to create a bazaar atmosphere but it seems to me that they didn't put much effort to their decoration. There's nothing to shout about and it's just like any other bazaar. I'm sure they can do better than that. What was even more disappointing was they didn't even bother to decorate the east and west wing of the mall. The Centre Court was already a disappointment. I don't know whether is it because they want to cut down their budget or they just want to gain more spendings from the shoppers with their overcrowded stalls at the Centre Court.

At one corner of the Centre Court, there were some on-going activities. I think the participants were weaving some ketupats. I wouldn't notice this if I hadn't walked the whole circle of the Centre Court.



At least the decorations in Suria KLCC were better than Mid Valley Megamall. I can't remember what they did for last year but this year was quite a big Malay kampung house all decked up. It gives quite a kampung feeling when you look at it. I'm sure our Malay friends will reminisce back to their balik kampung days when they were young. It was not the greatest but at least more effort in their decorations. The kampung house also served as a stage for some performances to entertain the crowd. The Malay traditional songs and music definitely makes you feel the Hari Raya vibe.

Weekends

The weather is so erratic these days. Some days it would be so hot and you can feel the scorching sun burning your skin. Some days it would be raining cats and dogs creating flash floods. But even on hot days, many people are not keen to walk under the hot sun and if you stay home it can get bored sometimes. No wonder nowadays there are throngs of people hitting the mall. The air conditioned malls seems appealing with the hot weather and even can provide shelter when it rains. I'm one of the guilty one hitting the malls during the weekend..hehe. I can't help it also when you have a family, there is always some thing you need to replenish at home.

The children also enjoy going to the malls. They seem to know how to appreciate the cooling malls. :P Once we are changed to our outing clothes, they know they are going out. My hubby always say thanks to me they are now kaki jalan like their mother. :P So do you like going to the malls during the weekend or are you a kaki jalan like me too? Otherwise, where do you usually go during the weekends?

The kids love this fountain in Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Mall. The carvings on the walls of the fountain looks like historical events that happened in Melaka.
